Insider Threat News - October 18, 2021

This incident serves as a reminder to organizations, the importance of deactivating access to the company VPN, mail systems, and networks at the time an employee is separated, and to ensure the immediate return of company-owned devices (mobile, tablet, and personal computers) in addition to the deletion of all company-sensitive data.

Insider Threats including 3rd party vendors continue to be a huge problem for every organization and recent polls suggest that:

  • More than 34% of businesses around the globe are affected by insider threats yearly.
  • 66% of organizations consider malicious insider attacks or accidental breaches more likely than external attacks.
  • Over the last two years, the number of insider incidents has increased by 47%
  • 55% of organizations identify privileged users as their greatest insider threat risk.
